Career Advice Needed Posted on: Mon Dec 5, 2011 - 09:26 AM Hi, I have recently been contemplating my future career development and was wondering if you could provide some advice/direction to the next step I could take to achieve my goal of working as an SEN teacher. I achieved BSc(Hons) QTS qualification in 1998 but have not taught in a full class setting for ten years as I took a career break to bring up my children. That said, during this time I have also achieved a BSc(Hons) in Psychology with the Open University and have recent and varied support experience ranging from Key Stage 1 to 4 . Specifically relating to SEN I carried out small group SEN English planning and teaching within KS3 and I am currently working on a 1:1 basis with Autistic pupils as an ABA Tutor. I am now looking to return to teaching and wish to specialise in SEN. I have spoken to the TDA who have been able to give me valuable insights and information but felt that it would be equally important to find out from local head teachers and specific agencies what skills, qualifications and experience they considered would make me a positive and competitive candidate for the role of an SEN teacher. Any advice that you could provide would be gratefully received With Kind regards Read the full thread... If you have seen an offensive or unsuitable post, please report it to us.
